- Livestock 101: What Every Conservation Professional Needs to Know About Livestock Production
- Livestock production fundamentals is a series of 8 webinars focused on providing livestock information to NRCS staff, partners, technical service providers, and other conservation professionals. These sessions will benefit anyone looking to become familiar with the principles of livestock production and successfully working with livestock producers to address resource concerns associated with animal agriculture. Future sessions will focus on individual livestock species including beef, dairy, sheep and goats, swine, poultry, and horses. The series will conclude with a session on livestock economics and marketing.
- Livestock 101: Aquaculture
- Aquaculture basics presented by field-based, farmer-serving university and producer-organization partners for NRCS staff to better support aquaculture producers. This session will covers aquatic animal nutrition and health, hatchery and farm management, water quality control, and system design.
- Livestock 101: Beef Cattle
- Covers nutrition and body condition, reproduction, health and biosecurity, animal and waste facilities, management and handling practices.
- Livestock 101: Bison
- Session covers nutrition and body condition, reproduction, health and biosecurity, animal and waste facilities, management and handing practices. - Livestock 101: Insects
- The Livestock 101 webinar series is meant to enhance knowledge of NRCS staff and partners on fundamental aspects of livestock production across sectors in order to strengthen the service we provide to livestock producers. Covers insect farming, including rearing of insects for food, feed, fertilizers, biostimulants, plant protection agents, among other things as well as bee biology and colony management.
- Livestock 101: Organic Livestock Production
- Discuss the goals and methods of organic animal agriculture, the regulations to follow, references to official regs and documents (e.g., National Organic Program (NOP)), major issues in transitioning and maintaining organic status, managing livestock without the use of prohibited substances, and the challenges and issues with marketing organic animal products. Provide an overview of the goals and methods of certified organic production of livestock including dairy, beef, sheep and goats, poultry and minor species.

- To get an introduction on the goals and practices of urban animal agriculture , primarily for NRCS staff, technical advisors and practioners/farmers of urban animal agriculture to cover the basics of markets, production, regulations, best practices. Hear about the basics of urban livestock raising. Including an overview of the major species and markets, general practice of care , rules/regulations and key points for raising livestock for food in urban conditions" To be covered would include species raised, the markets for each, the general feeding and care of the animals, the types of regulations about housing, smell, noise, limits on numbers of. This would be primarily rabbits, goats, small pigs, lambs, chickens. Best practices for feeding, care, harvesting processing, storing and marketing. For NRCS staff and specialists in urban agriculture.
